Play it on hard, but put the speed down a notch or two. ![]() This is because it uses every button, but not in a stair-step or repeating way. They force your hand back up, so that's counter-productive.-Go to training mode, and load up the first two sections of "Sweet Child of Mine". In addition to everything thats already been said (especially moving your fingering to RYBO), I did this as a training routine:-Get used to your new home-row in medium, but avoid the green-heavy songs. It may seem pointless to alt-strum the slow strings of notes you get on Medium, but you will need that skill later on Hard.* if you learned improper fingering technique early on like I did, start forcing yourself to keep your thumb pressed against the back of the fret board, instead of wrapping your thumb around the top of the fret board.Once you can do the hardest Medium songs with these extra training restrictions, I think you're ready to move on to Hard. When you see a long string of evenly-timed notes, force yourself to alternatively strum each note up, then down, then up, then down, etc. If you could teach yourself the skills Hard will require without also having to handle those extra bits of difficulty, I think you'll learn faster. So while replaying Medium I'd recommend forcing yourself to learn three new skills, if you haven't already:* play with three fingers instead of four, and move up and down the fret board* learn to alt-strum if you haven't yet, because you will NEED that skill eventually. Hard adds moving up and down the fret board, adds more notes and higher track speed, AND adds more chord-to-chord combinations and more gliding hammer-on/pull-off note strings. I'd recommend playing through most of the songs again on Medium but making yourself use only three fingers instead of four, so you have to move up and down the fret board. This seems counterproductive, but I believe there is a significantly larger barrier between medium/hard than easy/medium. But I'm not going to stop working on it.(All of the above also applies to Rock Band and the drums.) ![]() The green fret seems to get a lot more use than the orange one, though, which makes the RYBO shift even tougher.Really, I would be happiest if the game let you up the number of frets and chart speed independently. I think the combination of the higher speed note chart and the added fret are what make the transition so difficult for me. ++I did this and completed Hard in an afternoon. It takes a while to get used to, but it is sooo much easier to stretch your index finger up to G then to move your pinkie to O. ![]() Quote:Originally posted by Blacken00100:quote:Break yourself of the habit of using GRBY as your 'home' keys and move down to RBYO.
